Sydney and Matas met at USC on Sydney's birthday in August 2021. Matas was volunteering during USC MBA orientation in the last year of his MBA and Sydney was at orientation starting the first year of her MBA. Matas came up to say bye to the other orientation leader Sydney was talking to and they started talking about Santa Ynez wine country.
